Introduction

Department of Education started its journey in 2003 with introducing general pass course in education. After 3 years of successful journey, honours course in education was started in 2006. Initially, student intake capacity in honours course was 25. The growth over the years from having only 25 students to 82 students in honours course at present itself indicate the commitment of the department in developing human resource. Dedication and hard work of the faculty members make this department one of the finest education departments under the University of Kalyani. Despite high Pupil-Teacher ratio and want for infrastructural facilities the department has shown remarkable contribution towards academic excellence. Every year, a large number of students from this department enter Master degree program of different universities across West Bengal. Many of them secure rank in the PG examination. Healthy teacher –taught relationship is the heart of this department. Friendly behaviour of teachers provides a comfortable space for students which in turn promote student autonomy. Good numbers of books in library, class tests at regular interval, curricular and co-curricular activities throughout the year maintain conducive learning atmosphere in the department. Read more
