General   Information :

‘Pratayayee’ the women empowerment cell of Subhas Chandra Bose Centenary College has started its journey since 2016. This cell has some novel aims like to promote gender sensitivity and conduct various programmes to educate and sensitize the students. It also works to being out the strong personality among students to generate the courage within them. Apart from this it brings the rules and regulation regarding sexual harassment, domestic violence in front of them.

‘Pratayayee’ cell already achieved some remarkable tasks like spreading awareness related to health, teaching some earning oriented skills etc. This cell has the target to involve students with their activities through workshop, seminar, handicraft making, field survey, rally etc. In future pratayayee wants to organized workshops in handicrafts, skill development programme, yearly health check up of the students etc.

One Day Awareness Programme on Cancer and Aids:

The Gender Sensitization Cell organised an awareness programme on Cancer which was supervised by Dr.Manju Banerjee, Principal of Medical college and her team including six junior doctors. A team of interested and focused students was built up to spread awareness at nearby villages.

8th March, 2019

One Day Awareness Programme on International Women’s Day:

The faculty members of our institution celebrated to bring awarenessabout the significance of the day among the students. The programme started with a morning rally, followed by cultural events, handicrafts exhibition and poster presentation.

9th March, 2018

Celebration of Gender Equality:

Pratayayeeorganised a programme on the theme “Happy to Bleed". The objective was to bring awareness among the students about health and hygiene issues related to menstruation. This was followed by a karate demonstration to help learn self-defence.

20th Jan, 2018

One Day Cancer Awareness Programme:

Dr. R. Chatterjee, Former Head, Dept of Tumour Virology, Chittarajan National Cancer Institute, Kolkata, delivered a lecture to give an understanding about cancer. The students in turn encouraged to spread the awareness at the village adopted by the college.

One Day Workshop on Fabric, Cloth and Different Types of Stitches:

The Gender Sensitization Cell organised the programme under the supervision of the faculty members, who showed the students some handicrafts skill and encouraged them about entrepreneurship in future.

Women Empowerment- Voices from the Margin:

The Cell organised the event under the supervision of the Resource Person, AnuradhaMondal, Advocate. The objective was to give the students a basic idea about different existing laws and legal actions that can prevent crime against women.
