ARCADIA ECO CLUB

‘Arcadia Eco Club’ another important cell of Subhas Chandra Bose Centenary College was established is the year of 2017. In the age of anthropocene, when environment faces a lots of difficulties ,it has the aim to aware the students about man–environment relationship. Apart from this, these clubs want to motivate and generate good habits towards sustainable waste management among the students. Furthermore, it creates clean and green campus concept within students through various innovative methods.

The club plays a significant role in creating environmental awareness mainly through field based activities cleanliness drives, tree plantation programme and also through seminars lectures on environmental issues. In future, Arcadia Eco Club wants to organized more seminars and filed based activities in larger scale by involving students.

Model competition and Special lecture:

Dr. Swati Mollah, Associate Professor, Department of Geography, Dumkol College and Rhitwik Chatterjee, Investigation Directorate , WRIDD, Govt. of West Bengal delivered lectures on Innovative Practices of Preserving the Environment. The students from various departments showcased their models and presented them to the invited speakers.

Two Day Annual Workshop on Field Measurement and Best Management Practice for the environment:

The Eco Club organized a two day hands-on training programme which was supervised by our Resource Person, Rhitwik Chatterjee, Invastigation Directorate, WRIDD, Govt. of West Bengal. The hands on training was followed by student presentations on the aspects they have learnt in the workshop.

Inauguration of Arcadia: Eco Club:

The event was inaugurated by Dr. D K Khan, Ex Professor, Dept. of Environmental Science, University of Kalyani. Our objective was to create awareness among students regarding the sustainable development of Environment. The Inauguration programme was followed by Quiz Competition and Poster Presentation.
