Department of History

Introduction

The Department of History is an integral part of the college from the very begining. However the honours course was started in 2006 with a limited number of seat of 40 students. Gradually the intake capacity for 1st year B.A. (hons.) has increased and is currently 85.

Currently, we are a dedicated and energetic group of seven faculty members with varied academic interests and contributions. The faculties of the department encourage the students to grow their interest in the subject and promote research works in future. So that they can flourish in their future life and also contribute in academic development. Read more

Innovative pedagogy:

□  Use of ICT classroom on regular basic.
□  Use of Power point presentation and airing documentaries and other history related classic movies to attract student attention.
□  Seminars , invited lectures and interdisciplinary classes have been organized.
□  Study tours and museum visits have been conducted.
□  Online classes through Google classroom, Google meet and zoom to carry-out regular curricular activities.
□  Using modern technology like insert learning extension to provide study material for students.

Future plan:

□  An ICHR orUGC sponsored seminar will be applied for the department. A departmental journal will be published on the base of students’ various kind of projects. Each class room should be equipped for audio- visual lessons.
□  A fully furnished modern departmental room is a dream for us where external scholars may share their knowledge with the department at least one or two days on a week.
□  Regular coaching on NET , SET and other career related examination will be started soon.
□  Plan to introduce workshops on local history of Murshidabad has been set . So that our students can be enriched.
